Your Site-Moving Questions, Answered~! | Wed May 26, 2010 3:12 pm by Kami | We've been getting a good amount of questions regarding the move and the time skip that the move will created for all characters. So here are a few general questions, along with their answers, and of course feel free to post any more concerns you have here.
Q: What abilities or weapons will we be able to add or expand on?
A: Not a whole lot, honestly. I'd say a few improvements on what you already have, but not by a lot, as well as maybe one or two new techniques. Let's not do a major overhaul, because that would then disrupt your rank, which will not change in the move. As for weapons, …

| (The following is a suggestion for the month of May and will be implemented after the elections of the guild leaders:)
So recently I've been compelled to watching Reborn! again. I'm not sure how many of you have seen it, how many of you haven't. But to give you a two sentence synopsis, it's about a young normal, loser kid with no athletic or academic talents and friends who is thrust into a Mafioso world by the blood he didn't know runs through his body. It puts him in dangers he didn't face before and having him in life and death situations all the time, but in exchange, he grows up through his trials and most of all finds companions, his six guardians that protect the name of Vongola.
So why is this important...well...the anime and manga stress the importance of Family in this particular series. There are a number of Families in the anime, all of them having relations to each other. It really does become like those old Mafia movies, where even if they aren't really blood related, they're considered Family. In Reborn!, it is said that when the Family runs into trouble, the six Guardians will arrive to save them. I wanted to try to implement some of these aspects into Escellsia.
Families
There are 3 Families for each of the 3 guilds; this is a fancier and more efficient way of saying the Guild Leader will have Guardians.
The Boss is responsible for naming their Family. You're free to name them to your own discretion. Usually they are named after the last name of a person, but it can also be named after specific words of your choice. Examples are the Chiavorone Family or the Bovino Family.
Each Family is also responsible of making a roster with people in their Family. This keeps an account of who is actually supposed to be there. For example, a roster would be helpful if someone were accidentally put into two Families.
As said before, this family is made out of a Boss/Guild Leader and Six Guardians. Each Guardian is given a title, based upon their personality and the way they actually fight. Whatever Guild the Guardian is in does not affect what title they are given. Example, Alyss and Cassius Redhunt are both in Convenant, but they fight in completely different ways. Therefore they would have different Guardian titles. The leader from Convenant can take a member from Academy if they wish, and Creed can take from Covenant, etc etc.
There are themes to each title. For example, in Reborn!, each Guardian is a type of weather, but reflecting their personality and the role they play in protecting the Family. The Storm is described as "Continuously at the heart of the Attack, the storm of raging waves that never rest., but the Sun "Destroys the misfortune that attacks the family with their own body, they become the sun that brightly shines upon an area". As you can see, each Guardian is different in their roles and how they play in each Family based upon the their title. Therefore, each of the main Families will have to think of themes that will best fit. If you don't have any ideas, you can send me a message and I'll give you some I have.
Like Rozalyn would have a mansion or home in her village, the major families have a large building of their own that they can relax in. Each of the six Guardians have a room there. They can move from their Guild/Nation room to this room if they wish. This mansion is not 'Family only', mind you. People may come from all over to speak with the Guild Leader, but it is not a place for asking serious questions and giving pressing issues. The offices are for that. However, it is rather a place of plot development with characters and if the Families wish to roleplay with each other so their characters can know each other better.
If anyone has caught up to this yet, they might have noticed that this whole suggestion is merely making the system a flowing network. People are going into other Guilds as they are going to be members of Families, as despite being in a different Guild, they are in the same Family where they can learn from each other.
-------
Rings
This section will be shorter, I promise. This pertains to the Major Family anyway, so any one who is a candidate for that, listen up.
So the rings are for the six Guardians of the 3 Families in the Guilds. As stated before, each Guardian is given a title based upon how they fight and their role. These various Guardians are also given rings corresponding to their title. Therefore the Guardian of Storm would have the Storm ring, Guardian of Mist would have the Mist ring, etc.
The use of the rings are vital. For one they are symbols of that person's importance and their role not only the Family but in the Guilds. The rings can be used to for battle. They are used to amplify the character's power, speed, energetic type, etc. This is equal to the character going up 2 ranks which they are already.
However, one can even say the rings are 'useless' in normal battles. You cannot use a ring during a ranking exam. The use of the ring can only be used for the defense/guarding the Boss and any of the Family members OR defending an attacked Guild. The rings would be helpful in the fight with the Antagonists now, for example. Rings cannot be used to defend or fight for a Nation or any type of contest.

| All for the idea with the exception of minor families. We all know that not everyone can be a leader of something, and if we show an option for anyone to start a family then we have more families and less guardians for the major families. I'm much more comfortable with only Guild Leaders being in charge of the Guild families. | |

| I thought of eliminating the minor families for convienance and that's just what I'll do. Honestly it's a very vague and unthought aspect, so nevermind it. Afterall if 5 people make a family, there won't be enough people to be in those families and fill them, so only one family per guild and that will be the main families. | |

| You do know that the boss is also a guardian, because there are 7 guardians, not 6. :] This is if you're going off of Reborn of course. And do you know what the rings do? If not, I can take that category in explaining and handing them to those members of the families. | |

| Well we are having rings, but no we're not gonna have it be some other superpower that people get from them. Rings have abilities, but only to be activated when protecting the Guild Leader from some threat of some sort. Boxes, out of the equation.
I'm only posting this cause we've talked about the idea a few times beforehand, so sorry if it seems like I'm steamrolling ._.; | |

| I think that instead of rings, each family should have a weapon unique to that family, and not other families....and each weapon would have an ability....of some sort.....although I'm kind of against only being able to use it if a guild leader is attacked...that wouldn't give the person enough time or exerience with the ability....
Otherwise, I like where this is going...XD | |

| That is why I only made it so when the guild is attacked. Because it doesn't give you new abilities, it amps your already existing abilities.
I do know of the rings and boxes, but the reason why I didn't want this implemented is because the rings are not supposed to be battle weapons. In fact the implementation of families and rings are not supposed to be battle oriented, but community oriented (hence families). But I wanted the aspect of guardians to come about, but really the aspect of this is completely solidified by rings. At the same time I didn't want the rings to be like season 2, just a symbol. So I made it so they CAN be used for battle, but at the same time, not abused in normal battles. If people are being picked for guardians there would be 18 people running amok with the title guardian of the ____ with the active factor of being "2 ranks above where they are". That is reason for the limitation.
Secondly, yes I know that there are 7 guardians, including the Boss, however, they refer to Tsuna more as Vongola X or Boss than they do "Sky Guardian" or "Guardian of the Sky Ring". Not only this, but it seems like many take out the other guardians before the core is the "last resort", aka Tsuna fighting on his own after all his guardians are knocked out (Millefiore Arc/Choice Arc). | |

| Add:
I actually did consider the aspect of just implementing rings in general, like Class A-D rings, using The Order. But the concept seemed too much for te whole forum already. Many of the current themes we offer aren't being taken advantage of in the first place, so I figured why put in one for the whole forum when it wouldn't be used.

| So this is more like a political thing...? Interesting....
As far as the names go, will having guardians in this and the title of guardian in Keiz conflict eachother....? | |

| This sounds messy and complicated, Like itll end up being really confusing to impliment and get everyone understanding at the same time. But I could be just slow. Its a good idea, but can you maybe explain how itll all work out in a more... general way? | |

| Indeed. And from my prior knowledge of mafias, it sounds as if it would be like decentralizing the guild system that operates just fine how it is... Which is why I asked for a more thorough explanation. If Alyss doesnt mind. | |

| Alright. Let me put it in simple terms. In fact, let's build a Family ourselves. So... each guild has a Family. Let us take Academy as an example. Let us say Taz is the guild leader. The guild leader is the same as the Boss.
Taz's first job is to name her Family. So she names it the Philosoraptor Family. Anyone who wants to be part of Taz's Family has to be approved by Taz herself and put on a roster to make sure they're not in......Vylence's Family from Creed.
So, in Taz's Family, there are 6 people who guard her. They are known as the 6 Guardians. Each Guardian is different by the way they fight. In each Family, the need of themes are required. So let's say, the theme of Taz's Philosoraptor Family are elements. She will need 6 elements that are different is the way they work.
So let's take the elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Wood, Metal, and Carbon.
Each of the people who are given the elements have a reason to be given those. Taz herself will be the Carbon Guardian, the reason is because in all of those elements, Carbon lies within it. It encompasses and allows those elements to take form.
Each of Taz's Guardians will be chosen to be 6 Guardians based upon those elements. So say Taz has Alyss and Skye and Roz lined up to be her Guardians (damn talk about lucky). She would understand that they are all different in the way they fight and their role in the Family. Let's say Skye would be assigned to Air(Air Guardian), since his fighting is not particularly structured in form. He goes and does as he pleases cannot to tied down, but helps the Family whenever he feels compelled to. However Alyss would be assigned to Water(Water Guardian), her art is graceful and rejuvenating, as well as calming and relaxing those in the Family. But Roz would be a Fire(the Fire Guardian), passionate and at the helm when it comes to protecting the Family.
So that's how Families are structured.
Moving on to rings. Let's keep taking Taz's Philosoraptor Family. Skye, Alyss, and Roz will all be rings by Taz (Taz gets one too). Each of them are given rings according to what title they are given. Therefore:
Taz- Carbon Ring Roz- Fire Ring Alyss- Water Ring Skye- Air Ring
These rings only come in handy when the Family or Guild is being defended. So for example, if Taz is getting attacked, Skye's Air Ring will be activated and he will not be Rank 3, but Rank 1 when it is activated. If another Family member is being attacked, then it also is activated. So, if Alyss is being attacked, Roz's ring can be activated, visa versa.
I hope that this clears up how this system goes by use of example.

And anyways, like I asked before, is the Guardian title in this going to conflict with Keiz's Guardian Shrews...? | |

| I don't think so. It shouldn't because they have different tags upon them. Someone will be called by their Guardian name, so Skye would be called Air Guardian and not simply "Guardian". Plus, Guardian Shrew is also specific as well, so there wouldn't be any problem. | |
