Know that even though you use the crystal for the holograms, it will still consume energy. Also, you can manipulate the size, but since it is a hologram, which is basically light particles clustered to form an image, the bigger it is, the easier it will be to disperse due to the expanding particles.

. Energy consumption also depends on size, like if you made a hologram of yourself that is 12 sky scrapers, and you wanted to make sure it was created with enough light partices to maintain its form, that would consume alot of energy.

So... does the crystal basically just amplify your energy?

On Vescrutia the General had energy enough to create portables to another dimension. It had to be contained before something bad was released. So he had Shinta seal all this energy away inside the Crystal. After the General passed into Escellsia his memory of the crystal reverted back to the way it was before he entered the Vescrutia realm.
